Welsh youth international Jordan Holt has joined Shire on a month long loan from St. Mirren. He is expected to make his debut in Sunday’s IRN-BRU Scottish League Third Division match against Berwick Rangers.

The 18 year-old centre half has been a regular in the Buddies’ SPL Under-20 league team this season and now Paisley boss Danny Lennon has given him the chance of a shot at senior football.

Shire coach John Coughlin has been looking to strengthen his defence in the light of recent heavy defeats and also the return to St. Mirren of Sean Kelly at the end of his three month emergency loan.

“I watched Jordan play in a game for St. Mirren’s under-20′s and he looked impressive,” said John. “He is a left-sided centre-half and that is just the position I think we need to fill right now. There is no doubt we need to improve the quality of what is available to us defensively and we can only hope that Jolrdan will do the business for us.”
